Privacy Mode for Vision 3.0 & Lite Dashcams
This document serves to educate our client base regarding this feature in order for them to educate their drivers that in no circumstances that they are to be touching the main unit situated in the cabin other than pressing the black button once to engage the panic button feature if it is required by the company and their compliance policies.
What is Privacy Mode and how does it affect your Linxio Vision 3.0 and Lite dashcams?
Privacy mode is a feature that is available by default which can be enabled by press and holding the black button on the main unit for 4-5 seconds that restricts and prevents the following:
Real-time footage from being visible and viewable via FT Cloud website and or FT Vision mobile app.
Historical footage from being recorded on the SD card.
You can determine if Privacy mode is enabled on your cameras via:
Status icon beside the vehicle name being black
When attempting to view the "Real-time video", there is no visible footage and there is a "Privacy Mode" icon per the below screenshot.
Why does this feature exist?
The purpose of this feature if enabled is to allow owners/drivers to prevent real-time video and historical footage from being recorded when the vehicle is operated for private use only. The feature can be enabled by accident when its being professionally installed by technician and or activated by the driver thinking that its the power button to "turn off" the dashcam when its not.
The historical GPS tracking is not affected by this feature being enabled which is still logged and can be retrieved through the Linxio and FT Cloud platforms respectively.
