Pairing a GPS Device to a vehicle profile

Introduction

Once you have physically installed a GPS device into your vehicle, the next step is to activate it and pair it with the correct vehicle profile in the Linxio application. Have the device’s IMEI and vehicle registration number (RegNo/rego) available. The IMEI is usually printed on the tracker itself or its barcode label. If the device is already online but its IMEI is unavailable, the registration number can be provided so the online device can be identified and added to the account.

If replacing a tracker, confirm the replacement device’s IMEI and SIM and the vehicle profile it should replace before pairing.

Method 1: Using the Desktop Web App

Step 1: Create a Vehicle Profile

1. Click on the Fleet icon in the left toolbar (represented by a vehicle icon).
2. Click Add new vehicle.
3. Complete the vehicle profile by filling in at least the mandatory fields:

• Type
• Vehicle Title (e.g., fleet number or driver’s name for easy identification)
• RegNo

4. Click Save.

Step 2: Pair the GPS Device with the Vehicle

1. Navigate to the Devices page.
2. Locate the installed device by searching for its IMEI number. If the device is not listed, its SIM may not yet be activated; contact Support and provide the device IMEI and associated vehicle registration so the tracker can be activated.
3. Click the + button to the right of the device.
4. Enter the RegNo of the vehicle you want to pair the device with.
5. Click Install.

Method 2: Using the Linxio Mobile App

Step 1: Login to the Linxio App

1. Open the Linxio app on your mobile phone.
2. Log in with your credentials.

Step 2: Install the GPS Device

1. Click the Settings icon in the bottom toolbar.
2. Select Device Installation.
3. Click Install a new device.
4. Enter the device IMEI manually or scan the barcode.
5. Click Search, and once the device is found, click Continue.

Step 3: Pair the Device with a Vehicle Profile

1. Enter the RegNo of the vehicle and click Search.
2. If the vehicle profile does not exist, click + Add new vehicle.
3. Fill in the vehicle profile details.
4. Click Continue.

Step 4: Finalize Installation

1. Take a photo of where you have mounted the device in the vehicle.
2. Click Install & Check Status.
3. Click Complete & Sign off.
